List of the nominees for the category of the Best New Artist in the 64th Grammy Awards

Grammy Award for the best new artist is given to the artists every year since 1959. Every year, the award is handed out to those debut music artists who released a magnificent and probably the best song in the new artist category the previous year. As per the guidelines of the Grammy officials- “For a new artist who releases, during the Eligibility Year, the first recording which establishes the public identity of that artist.”

Well, the award is certainly considered to be the biggest boost in a newcomer’s career. However, it is often called a curse as many artists could not sustain the growth after the debut year. So, one of the former members Taffy Danoff from the band Starland Vocal band expressed his thought about this category-“We got two of the five Grammys – one was Best New Artist. So that was basically the kiss of death and I feel sorry for everyone who’s gotten it since.” Still, the ward has meaning and a great significance in a music artist’s career.
