Finally, Spotify launched in India officially: Subscription pricing starts at Rs 199 per month

World’s largest and popular music streaming service is now available in India. This has been launched in India after many months of thought about a possible India entry. Previously Spotify was not available for download in India and users used Spotify by using VPN services. But, now the app can be downloaded both on iOS and Android devices.

Users are allowed to listen to the music free in Spotify, but it will come at the cost of seeing ads which at the moment are spreading brand awareness. Those users who will use it for free will not be able to store music offline. After a month of free trial, the user will be able to buy Spotify Premium which is starting at Rs 119 for a month. There is also a package of Rs 13 package which is for one day.

Daniel Ek, Spotify founder, and CEO said that India is highly rich in music culture and to service this market they are launching a custom-built experience. This will not only bring Indian artist to the world but will also the world’s music fan across India.

Spotify Indian services have a good mix of Bollywood and regional content. In the month of January Spotify announced that they had added an extended catalog from T-series with more than 1, 60,000 songs in Hindi and regional languages.

Amarjit Singh Batra, Managing director, Spotify India exclaimed in the release that the mobile internet revolution has led to a rapid rise in the number of connected Indians, thus making music streaming the most favored way to enjoy the music here. Spotify has reinvented itself many times to bring the best music to different countries and now in India.

Spotify needs to make a mark in the Indian market as it is a competitive music streaming market as it has maximum numbers of local music streaming sites. Globally Spotify has almost 207 million of active users in 79 markets among which 96 million are paid.
