He was born Lesane Parish Crooks on 16th June in the year 1971. The rapper was born in New York City in Manhattan but later on, shifted his base to Bay Area in San Francisco in the year 1988. Again he moved on to the bustling Los Angeles in the year 1993. He is also popularly known as 2Pac and he has been a big name in the hip hop rivalry of East Coast-West Coast in the 1990s. He has introduced the various social issues in the rap genre when in the mainstream scenario, gangsta rap was very dominant. It was a very modern approach in those times. He received both commercial and critical success with his albums ‘Me Against the World’ in 1995 and ‘Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.’ that came in 1993.
