The brilliant hip-hop artist, Tupac Shakur is also known as Tupac Amaru Shakur is a popular name among fans of rap and is known for his unique musicality. He was born Lesane Parish Crooks on 16th June in the year 1971. The rapper was born in New York City in Manhattan but later on, shifted his base to Bay Area in San Francisco in the year 1988. Again he moved on to the bustling Los Angeles in the year 1993. He is also popularly known as 2Pac and he has been a big name in the hip hop rivalry of East Coast-West Coast in the 1990s. He is considered to be one of the greatest rappers of all time and was very influential. The amazing rapper came up with four newly released albums in the period between the years 1991 and 1996. The albums were a runaway hit and the rapper managed to sell more than 75 million albums all across the globe. Unfortunately, the talented rapper passed away in a drive-by shooting just after he came out watching a boxing match in which Mike Tyson fought in Las Vegas in Nevada.

The prolific rapper also did a bit of theatre at the very popular Apollo Theatre where he took part in the play ‘A Raisin in the Sun’ and the role of Travis Younger was played by him with a lot of finesse. He also had another stage name called the Makaveli. In the year 2010, his track ‘Dear Mama’ has been added to the prestigious Library of Congress. He was hitched to Keisha Morris and the marriage lasted for just one year between 1995 and 1996. Snoop Dogg and Dr. Dre, who were great buddies of the rapper played at the Coachella music festival performed alongside the hologram of the body of the rapper in the year 2012. He has addressed several social issues that are contemporary and holds relevance for the inner cities that are plagued. His maiden album ‘2Pacalypse Now’ was released in the year 1991as he went on to become the center of attraction in the West Coast hip hop scene. He has introduced the various social issues in the rap genre when in the mainstream scenario, gangsta rap was very dominant. It was a very modern approach in those times. He received both commercial and critical success with his albums ‘Me Against the World’ in 1995 and ‘Strictly 4 My N.I.G.G.A.Z.’ that came in 1993.
