The living legend also sheds more light on the importance of the award and how it affects an artist. She said, “I feel so good because if you are a classical singer or a classical dancer, or if you are classical in your art, then it’s natural to eventually receive an award.” Comparing herself, she further added, “But for people like us…we are ordinary people, so to be chosen for the Padma award is such a huge thing…because I only believe in peace and brotherhood and I only believe that together, as a united force, we can do things for each other…make them smile through my music. That’s all I’m interested in”.

It only shows her modest and humble side as UshaUthup is one of the living legends in the music industry who can sing in various languages and genres. Her diversified musical collection only shows how versatile she is. However, nothing can beat the popularity of “Koi Yahaan, AhaaNacheNache”. Her musical reign was prime in the 1960s, 1970s, and 1980s with hit numbers like ‘Uri Uri Baba’, ‘Hare Rama Hare Krishna,’ ‘Ramba,’’ One Two Cha ChaCha’, and the list goes on.

Padma Bhushan is one of the highest civilian honors of India which is awarded for distinguished service in any field. Receiving this award is perhaps one of the greatest achievements by UshaUthup who has gone through a fair share of turmoil in her life to reach the success that she gained. After a lot of hardships, she finally became a prolific artist whom everyone admires. The artist has finally received what she deserves.
