Kevin C. Browne

DMR. Kevin C. Browne, first of all, thank you for the interview. To introduce things, where are you based, and what is the defining quality of your music?
Kevin. I want to say thanks as well. It is a real honor. I am based out of New Milford, Connecticut. I feel the defining quality of my music comes with details I put into the song and it is within my heartfelt feelings.

DMR. Well, 2023 was a big year for you, with plenty of streams on your tracks, when did you first start releasing original tracks and what do you think it is about your sound that is engaging?
Kevin. My first song I wrote and released was Four More Weeks in September 2022. It was a learning experience an also eye opening. I get a little teary eyed because it was written about a young lady that I grew up with. She loved music and would have enjoyed knowing about my writing the first one for her. Back in 2015 she died from Brain Cancer. So this is what helps make my music engaging because i write about true life events.

DMR. ‘Angel Serenade’ is a stunning, tropical arrangement with strong melodic harmonies and a clean-cut pop verse on. How did this one come to be?
Kevin. My writing music has also come with a storyline and they have been getting carried from one song to the next starting with Leaving Me So Lonely, Sugar Blues Reimagined, I Wish I Knew and now Angel Serenade so in essence just like an Author writes a series of books, I am doing it with music. Angel Serenade caps it off where the guy finally finds his true love. It is similar to a Romeo and Juliet story where Romeo serenades his true love Juliet but the spin on this is she becomes his angel. The harmonies actually was a suggestion from a great friend. I thought it was a great idea and was the last part to be put into the song.

DMR. In what ways motivate you to create music?
Kevin. I grew up in a music oriented family. I have had it around me most of my life. Music in its purist form no matter what style it gets created makes even the savage beast become mild. I love making different tones and harmonies putting them with lyrics. My passion is just like the clown wants to make people laugh. I want to have people enjoying what i create is for them and the melodies keeps their hearts singing with great feelings.

DMR. You have carved out an exceptionally full and eclectic career as a musician. In your years in the industry, what has been one of the most valuable lessons you have learned that you might gift as a suggestion to new artists?
Kevin. Don’t be stubborn to think that your way is set in stone because even though you may feel that what you make is always a hit even though we are hoping but music is subjective and it will humble you quickly.

DMR. If you could collaborate with anyone at all, who would you choose and why?
Kevin. I don’t want to offend because their are a lot of great artists that could be named many great and just like myself small fry still in the business but their are 3 of my utmost favorites which this list really could grow. The first is Van Morrison because my style is actually moving in that direction of Jazz/Pop fusion and another favorite is Hank Bocephus Williams Jr. which I did meet in 1981 in Country and the final is Justin Hayward of the Moody Blues Pop/Rock. I love their style and perfomance levels. I dream of the day that anyone of these I could collaborate with on a song.

DMR. Your creation is kind of classic and old-school, who were the first artists to inspire you?
Kevin. The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Blood, Sweat and Tears.

Kevin C. Browne

DMR. Tell me about the other upcoming releases how different was the creative process and how important is versatility for you as an artist.
Kevin. I am finishing up a tune that i had done a previous release back in my early writing called True Messiah and I did it with King David in mind from the book of Psalms and even though lyrically was good I was so inexperienced that the tune wasn’t well done for today’s modern crowd. I am redoing it in a more Contemporary Modern style Christian Pop just like the song I did called Goin’ Down The Highway to See Jesus which is my number 2 song. So I decided to redo True Messiah in the same manner. But as a Revisit. I am hoping it goes over well. Should be ready within 2 weeks.

DMR. Do you have a plan to perform live or continue creating your studio repertoire?
Kevin. I am working on putting some members together to do some performances. Others that I had in the past didn’t have the feel to stay as performers. I do have a couple right now that i am in negotiations with. I have even had offers of live perfomances but a few were not the right times.

DMR. What is your biggest ambition right now, and what is the best way people can support you?
Kevin. I would consider it a pleasure to play for an audience of about 300 to a 1000. I do have a Website that is up and running now. It has come along very well and very soon will be offering CDs and novelties. I know that in the beginning my music was just ok and that was a huge learning experience and have been told these are getting better. I do want to thank all my followers and curators for helpiing me grow. My Website is kevincbrowneentertainer.com please check it out and in their will guide you to all my streaming platforms. Please support me on Spotify, Apple, YouTube or Pandora whichever you listen and ask your friends to check my music with you.

DMR. How do you aim to connect with your audience through your music, and what messages or emotions do you hope to convey?
Kevin. I want it to be a feeling in their lives and know that through music will bring joy to their hearts.

DMR. Is there anything else we should know?
Kevin. I want to say thanks again and I am working very hard with each new song to make them better than the last. Please don’t give up on me. Let’s make 2024 a great year. I have even put up an idea of doing a Top 6 of my best songs on a Kevin C. Browne Greatest Hits.
