Lisa Orlando

Daily Music Roll: Who gave the inspiration to break into the music scene as it is very difficult for anyone to make a mark in this profession?

Lisa Orlando: I’ve always wanted to be a musician ever since I was a little girl, I was singing and writing my own songs for as far back as I can remember. it’s been something that’s always been a huge passion of mine. It’s just something that has come naturally to me. Whenever I was going through something, I would sit down and write a song. it was my way of getting through whatever happened or helping myself figure out whatever feeling or event I was going through. If there wasn’t a song that I could relate to out there for me, I would sit down & make my own. Music is such a huge outlet for me, music has helped me vent, heal, and come to terms with all of the things I’ve gone through in my life. As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been making music on my own in private and about 2 1/2 years ago I finally started putting music out to the public. I was using this app called shapr, (where you can find other musicians to work & collaborate with ), and little did I know, that collaborating with someone on that app would help become the official start of my music career. My producer duff diddy aka duff the musician; found me on there & we started working together. Duff finding me on there is what really started to push me to make music publicly and to put myself out there in the industry. He’s helped me grow and He’s really inspired me. He’s been a crucial part of my music career. We make an amazing team together and I wouldn’t be where I am right now without him. We’ve been working together ever since. Him believing in me is a huge part of what gave me the courage to finally release music, bear my soul, and make this my career. I’ve gotta say; I’m super grateful to him and all the work, time, and effort that we’ve put in together. Duff pushes me to be the best I can be. He’s an amazing musician and I know we’re gonna do so many great things together.

DMR: Why did you get attracted to the genres of pop and EDM and what is so exciting about these genres?

Lisa Orlando: I love pop and EDM music because Pops usually pretty upbeat and EDM is dance music and I love the idea of people having a good time, vibing and being able to relate to something I’ve gone through and just enjoying the music — I always loved those genres myself so I wanted to make music that makes others feel that way. I just really wanna touch people’s lives in a positive way.

DMR: Did you happen to follow someone from your childhood or you developed the passion on your own?

Lisa Orlando: I was a huge fan of Celine Dion, Britney Spears Avril Lavigne, and Jojo growing up, they’ve helped to shape my music style.

DMR: Who do you reckon has got the potential to make it big in the pop and EDM scene and why do you think so?

Lisa Orlando: Not to be cliché but Myself, It’s something I love to do and it means the world to me. I work really hard, I’m talented, I’m driven and it’s more than a dream to me to make it big, my entire future depends on it. I’ve always known that I was supposed to be in the entertainment industry. I want to use that success to help people and I just want others to know they’re not alone. I want to be someone other people can relate to & hopefully it touches their life, through my music. if I can help anyone who’s ever been through what I’ve been through in this life, that’s exactly what I wanna do. That’s what drives, motivates, and inspires me.

DMR: Where do you see yourself say after 5 years? As a homemaker or a musician who is busy trotting the world and performing?

Lisa Orlando: I see myself in five years as a well-known singer-songwriter. Hopefully 5 years from now I’ve touched more people’s lives, and continue to make a bigger positive impact, that’s all I’ve ever wanted to do. That’s the goal and that’s the dream.

DMR: Are you an introvert by nature like most other creative persons or do you break the shackles every time you get on to the stage?

Lisa Orlando: I’m definitely an introvert, I have some extrovert in me as well, but when it comes to performing I have to force myself to break out of that introverted side of me. it’s super easy to do that once I’m up there singing, it’s just the whole getting up their part, that’s nerve-racking for me. once I’m already up there singing, it feels supernatural for me and it feels like that’s where I’m supposed to be. On stage, performing.

DMR: Which city in the world gives you the best feeling while performing and why?

Lisa Orlando: Philadelphia, PA because that’s I’ve performed the most so far and that’s where my families from.

DMR: Are you happy with your progress to date and raring to go for more success or do you think sometimes a creative person has to introspect?

Lisa Orlando: It’s always good to look inward and evaluate yourself and see areas within you that need to be worked on. Overall yes, I am very happy with my progress to date; I feel like every day I’m learning more and more about the music industry; I’ve come a really long way and I’m really proud of myself. There’s always something to learn, and there’s always more to push for. I’m gonna keep striving to get to the place I wanna be. I’m always gonna keep pushing myself and making sure that no matter what, I get there. I don’t think I’ll ever be fully content until I know I’m where I need to be. It’s like this in innate feeling I’ve had since I was a kid, telling me that I’m supposed to be in a certain place and until I get there it’s like I can’t rest. It feels like this is my purpose and what I’ve been put on this earth to do.

DMR: Did the year-long Covid-19 restrictions taken a toll on you or did you used this time to make the best out of it?

Lisa Orlando: They definitely take a toll because they make performing really hard, it has made live (in person) gigs, scarce. It’s made it hard to find events to book at the moment but it’s also given me so much time. So I’ve tried to make the most out of it and put out as many songs as I possibly can. I just keep working and keep on grinding because people need music more than anything with everything going on in the world right now. My amazing producer Duff and I have used the time to work hard and better ourselves. We have an upcoming EP we’ve been working really hard on during corona. We’re both really excited to release it. Extra time to work and write is legit the only good thing to come out of all of it and I’m really hoping all this corona stuff will be over soon.

DMR: Given a chance to walk back in time, which musician from the yesteryears do you want to meet?

Lisa Orlando: I would say Freddie Mercury from Queen, I truly think he was a phenomenal singer and songwriter, I definitely wish I could’ve met him. He has definitely inspired me in a lot of ways. He had an amazing career and he’s a legend.

DMR: Do you get perturbed by the volatile socio-political scenario prevailing in the world and does it have any impact on the kind of music you make?

Lisa Orlando: I would say that I stay away from political stuff in my music but it definitely helps to inspires me to try and make music that people can relate to because of how crazy the world has become, it pushes me to keep going. I just want music to be an outlet for me and for other people that are going through something. I just want music to be a safe place so that Everyone from all walks of life can come together, live in the moment, and enjoy positive vibes & amazing moments together, no matter what, Now more than ever.

DMR: What is your take on the way things are shaping up in the current scenario about the music industry?

Lisa Orlando: I think that there are so many great names in the music industry right now and it’s definitely a very hard place to break into but if you’re determined and you know in your heart that this is what you want to do, then I would say to give it your all and go for it. Life is way too short to have any regrets and if you have a dream you need to do anything and everything that you can to make that happen for yourself. All I can say is it just takes a lot of hard work and effort but it’s super worth it and that’s the truth. It’s definitely not cut out for everyone, you have to be super persistent and find a way to keep going, and always try to stay positive because there are so many ups and downs. I’m definitely really excited for what’s to come. I can’t wait to put out this EP with duff and I’m looking forward to continuing to push myself further each day. I have high hopes and I’m going to work to make it happen, no matter what. I want to leave behind a legacy when I’m gone from this earth; I want to be remembered for making a difference. I want to be someone that did everything they could in life to make their dreams a reality & I want to know I lived my life to the fullest and made the most out of my time here on earth. I hope I help & inspire as many people as possible along the way!
