1. Please receive our heartiest appreciation we thoroughly enjoyed this number and also planning to use it at this weekend’s party. Phil Elam, you have been intriguing and have mastered the art of vibing through music. Do you need to share how you came up with this idea to celebrate wallflowers? Party monsters have their share of music; this is rare to hear songs for those who keep themselves away from the main crowd.
Ans. First of all, I am soooooo humbled and giggly over here.

White Girl Wasted was born from observing a bunch of girls in various situations. At the gym, football game tailgate parties, the beach, etc. The group of girls who are always having The-Best-Time! The girls were not only having so much fun, but they absolutely did not care who was watching. It was total freedom! It was a text book lesson in loving yourself! The music and the lyrics are a direct reflection of that level of party-dom!

The objective of the song, I hope, it’s that everyone gets out there and just enjoyyyy life! “Everything-is-gonna-be-alight!”

2. The video of this song, ‘White Girl Wasted’, is just as enticing as the audio of the number. The magnificent video can be enjoyed with or without any party taking place. What are the locations you have shot the video, can share a bit more about that?
Ans. The visuals were pulled from so many places. Including some videos put together by people who discovered the song early and on their own. Some of the people in the video just turned on the camera while living their life and vibing to the song. I’m trying to get in touch with everyone who did this. Hopefully, I will hear from those who I haven’t been able to reach when they read this.

3. Who has been your all-time musical inspiration? And please care to share why as well.
Ans. OMG!!! I have soooo many inspirations. Ok, let me think…..my “all-time” inspiration???
Oh…. I don’t knowwwwwwwwww! I love the classics. Elton John, Bob Seger, David Bowie. My very first concert as kid was Prince! I grew up studying Classical Piano, so I love, love, love BEETHOVEN & MOZART. My older brother played George Clinton, Parliment Funkadelic in the house. I can’t say who is my all-time inspiration. The stress….Arrrrghhhhhh!!! I’m actually listening to MOZART’S Lacrimosa right now.

4. Apart from this track, according to you, what are your best music releases by far?
Ans. Oh, that’s like asking who is your favorite child. But since I was unable to answer the last question, I will deny several of my babies now. With that being said, not counting “WGW” I have been partial to a song called “Love Is Louder.” The reason being that the streaming royalties for that song were able to go to the Tree Of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh after the terrible shooting that took place in their place of worship.

5. If you were given the opportunity to work with any music artist or group which name would you pick for your dream collaborations?
Ans. If it was possible I would have loved to be able to work with David Bowie. “Heroes” is probably the best songs Evvvvvaaaaa!

6. When it comes to music, what is the earliest memory you have of music that has driven you to choose music as a career option?
Ans. Oh, I remember it so clearly. It had just stopped raining on an overcast Saturday afternoon in Detroit, Michigan. The air was clean and crisp as the wet green grass seemed to be illuminated by a contrasted orange-tinted sky. The sun had just begun to set. My dad put on Beethoven’s Moonlight Sonata on vinyl. Jennifer, the haunting yet beautiful simple melody literally brought me to tears. I was 11 years old. I knew that whatever power the music cast over my soul was a force from which I never wanted to be released.

7. Are you willing to drop some tracks in the upcoming months?
Ans. Yes. I am always writing. Actually working on a couple of new songs that I’m really excited about.

8. If not music then what would be a potential career option and why?
Ans. I am actually a SAG-AFTRA actor. I recently was cast in the upcoming Lee Daniels feature film, The Deliverance. I am also scheduled to start filming a movie this summer that’s being directed by Jason Richardson. The lead will be Peter Lawson Jones. PLJ was a major supporting actor in Tom Hanks, A Man Called Otto. What’s so great about PLJ is that he is also one of my acting instructors at 1st Team Actors Studio, but I also consider him to be a friend.

9. You have shared briefly that you are also into the acting field, would you care to share more on this topic?
Ans. I am a student at 1st Team Actors Studio in Cleveland, Ohio. What is so great about this place of learning is that the atmosphere is soooooo supportive. Another wonderful aspect is that it is SUCH A SAFE SPACE!!! The owners, Lauren Nichols and Angela Boehm, have created a place where you are encouraged to find your voice; a place to try something new before you crash and burn. If that happens, someone will be there to put out the flames, pick you up and encourage you to try again. Gawd knows I have crashed and burned soooo many times there. But you will eventually find your footing and your path will become clear.

10. In the field of music you have spent a long time, would like to share something that will help aspiring artists to gulf down this overwhelming feeling of abundance. What has helped to gain your traction?
Ans. I have to say prayer and faith have been my foundation and myanchor. Knowing that there is a wayyyyyy bigger force at work in all of our lives. Also knowing that the wayyyy bigger force is at work for “you”. Being surrounded by good people who are there to support you and believe in you is key, as well. Another aspect to remember is that no one is in this alone. Just as we are looking for others to help us when and where we need to help, we MUSSSTTTT HELP OTHERS WHENEVER AND WHEREVER WE CAN, as well. I can’t stress this enough. Someone told me once,
“If you want a friend, be a friend.”

11. Are you willing to broaden your music career and host live concerts and shows in the near future? If yes, then please share some details for your audience.
Ans. Absolutely! I have been fortunate enough to open for a number of acts like 98 Degrees and Shaggy (back in the day) , Nelly also a couple of retro disco shows with KC & The Sunshine Band and Village People.

Just recently did a sold-out show in Detroit. Here’s a clip of the finale:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cLZHw3_FnQc
