Puerto Rican heartthrob singer Bad Bunny made his debut at the Primetime Emmy Awards, winning for the first time, and the weekend was dedicated to him. Formerly known as the Creative Arts Emmys, the Primetime Emmy Awards took place on September 5 at the Peacock Theater at L.A. Live in Los Angeles.

Bad Bunny won the award for his versatile performance at The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny (NBC), and guess what? He won both awards as the performer and a producer at the show. This is the second Super Bowl Halftime Show to win at the Emmys.

Last time something similar happened was four years ago: The Pepsi Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show, which featured a superstar hip-hop lineup including Eminem, Snoop Dogg, 50 Cent, Dr. Dre, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige. For that show, Jay-Z, Jesse Collins, and Desiree Perez won as the executive producers for the brief yet grand event.

Some of the other nominees for this year’s category included the 68th Annual Grammy Awards (CBS), 83rd Annual Golden Globes (CBS), 78th Annual Tony Awards (CBS), and The Oscars (ABC). 2026 is quite a fruitful year for Bad Bunny, as this recognition comes seven months after he became the first artist to win in the category of Album of the Year for a Spanish-language album at the Grammy Awards. His last released album, ‘DeBÍ TiRAR MáS FOToS ’, became a global smash hit.

The Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Starring Bad Bunny is perhaps the most well-arranged halftime show, as it won a total of seven awards at the Emmys. The show made a record by becoming the most-awarded Super Bowl halftime show in the history of the Emmys. This also marks the first-ever Spanish-language program to win the award for outstanding variety special (live).

The show won the awards for outstanding directing for a variety special; outstanding music direction; outstanding sound mixing for a variety series or special; outstanding lighting design/lighting direction for a special; outstanding choreography for variety or reality programming; as well as outstanding technical direction and camerawork for a special.

The Halftime is not the only show to win an Emmy with Bad Bunny’s presence, but there is also the Season 51 opener of Saturday Night Live that won a Primetime Emmy for outstanding makeup for a variety, nonfiction or reality program. The show was hosted by Bunny, and he definitely offered an entertaining evening for everyone.

The nomination list for outstanding variety special also includes pop superstar Taylor Swift for outstanding variety special, but she lost to Sabrina Carpenter, Maya Rudolph, and Seth Rogen, who paid tribute to ‘The Muppet Show’. This also marks Sabrina’s first-ever Primetime Emmy that she won as a performer as well as an executive producer for the special show. Some of the other nominees were ‘Wicked: One Wonderful Night’, ‘Dave Chappelle: The Unstoppable…’, and ‘Nikki Glaser: Good Girl’.
