Record producer and songwriter Benny Blanco got personal in a new episode of Jake Shane’s popular podcast Therapuss. Released this week on YouTube, Spotify, and Apple Podcasts, the interview covers his relationship with fiancée Selena Gomez, mental health, and key career moments. Blanco opened up about living with OCD, sharing how it has shaped his day-to-day life. He also looked back on his early sessions with Billie Eilish, recalling her talent when she was still a teenager.

He then revealed that Selena had not yet started planning their wedding. “Not yet, that’s why we both need to chill,” the Grammy nominee explained. “We’ve both been working so much. We got engaged and then we were filming music videos for our album then we then it’s holidays, then right after the holidays we had to start all the promo for our stuff, do that.” “Then she left to film her show Only Murders and then I met her then we hung out for a week and then right after that it’s promo and then I’m writing another book so then I had to write a book and then she came back for one day here and I and then it was my birthday and you know,” he continued.
He further added that he and Selena hope to sit down any day this summer and start planning their big day. “That wedding is going to be lit,” Shane teased, with Blanco laughing: “It’ll be chill.”

The conversation also touched on Blanco’s lifelong journey with OCD. He spoke honestly about growing up with the condition and described the rituals he followed as a child to cope with intrusive thoughts. His openness offered listeners a deeper look into the struggles behind his success as a hitmaker. “When I was a kid, I used to have this thing where I had to go ‘mmph.’ If I didn’t do it, I thought my parents were going to die,” he revealed. “Now I have little things where I touch parts of my face or make a fake cough sound—literally hundreds of times a day. It’s involuntary.”
He then said that with time, he learned to manage these compulsions that were pretty disruptive to his surroundings. “I got rid of all the things that are really annoying to another person. I still do little things like making sure everything in my shower is facing forward. But that’s insane regardless of OCD,” the music producer joked.
Fans were curious when Blanco linked Wizards of Waverly Place to Billie Eilish’s breakout track ‘Bad Guy’ in the interview. “I know the theme song [of Wizards] because it inspired ‘Bad Guy,’” Blanco said. “I worked with Billie when she was legit like 14 years old.” he said while explaining how he and FINNEAS met before Eilish even played a live show through a mutual lawyer. “They didn’t need my help at all. They always do everything just the two of them, and it’s f—–g incredible.”
