The festival is due to take place from the mid to the end of April in 2022 in its famous location of Empire Polo Ground in Indio, Calif. Concerns regarding the Omicron surge indicate a postponement for the fifth time as the Grammy awards were also shifted to a late date.

Controversies were raised regarding the 2022 edition of the festival when it announced the dates on their Instagram page and people were more confused when it reversed from the previously implemented vaccination policy. Multiple sources are speculating that Goldenvoice has taken this step for promoting the country-themed Stagecoach festival, which is due to take place right after the Coachella festival.
