Collaboration Announcement: Bengali Rock Singer Rupam Islam Is Collaborating With Arijit Singh

It was on the evening of 22nd February, when Rupam Islam dropped a video on social media. In that video, Rupam and Arijit were standing in front of a pool table when Rupam shares the news about their upcoming musical collaboration. While Arijit’s voice was broken because of the over-exhaustion from the concert last Saturday, Rupam look the honor to break the news to the world. And as he spoke Arijit kept on playing guitar softly one of Rupam Islam’s all-time hit tracks ‘Keno Korle Ei Rokom’, a Bengali rock song, compensating for the absence of his beautiful voice.

Their performance together on Saturday night broke the internet. The lead singer of the Bengali rock band Fossils accompanied when he was performing ‘Ekla Ghar’ right after he sang ‘Aro Ekbar’. And when the internet was still recovering from the overwhelming nostalgia of every contemporary Bengali music lover, they broke the news to the world about their upcoming collaborative works.

After their performance, Rupam shared his by saying, “It was completely unexpected. I was in the audience seat near the stage. It was really emotional for me when Arijit acknowledged me and told the audience how he has grown up listening to my songs. And when he started singing ‘Aro Ekbar’ I stood up and I could see how ecstatic the audiences were. Then he requested me to join and when he gave me the extra mic I was so emotional. I will treasure this memory for the rest of my life. The experience was unforgettable.”

In the video, Rupam spoke, “We are standing side by side today. We intend to work together in the future. People often ask me whether we would collaborate, especially after the (February 18) concert.” And as he asked Arijit, “Will we work together?” Arijit answered affirmatively. When the voice of Bollywood’s heart breaks sang Aro Ekbar, it seemed he was offering a tribute to Rupam Islam and Fossils, as he is seen singing over numbers just to convey his love for music and that singe. But hardly anyone could predict that this has more to it, and collaborative work from these two legendary singers and iconic Bengalis is great news for every music lover.
