Emerging country music artist Oliver Anthony has previously garnered a lot of attention with his flawless performance of ‘Rich Men North Of Richmond’; and now, it is time for a brand new track.
Being one of the most seasoned up-and-coming artists in the music scene, Anthony witnessed a month-long viral fame with the release of his video performing the track. The song went live on August 8 and it quickly went to Number One on the iTunes Country Charts. Currently, it has garnered more than 50 million views on YouTube and the number is increasing.
However, being viral comes with a lot of controversy and that happened in this case as well. While some of the critics called it a working-class anthem, a lot of others called it ‘fatphobic’ and some of them also said that it is a ‘Right Wing Anthem’.
Amidst all these, the artist has come up with a brand new track, named ’90 Some Chevy’. The track has premiered recently and it already managed to gain over 1.4 million views on YouTube. Anthony has done an amazing job in crafting this single and that reflects through his lyrical approach. As he sings, “That old darlin’ of mine is like a 90-some Chevy/ She rides just right when you turn her on/ The only thing sounds better than that old 350/ Is when she’s runnin’ up to kiss me when I get home;” it offers an essence of country romance.
The artist is a former factory worker as well as a farmer who took a moment to say that the left-wingers have “misunderstood my words”. He shared a neutral political view but greatly criticized the Republicans for using his lyrics as a weapon.
Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has shown full support for Oliver Anthony and praised him by saying “keep kicking a**”.
