Dua Lipa Re-Creates the Iconic Barbie Foot Scene as She Teases Her New Song

Dua Lipa’s almost year-long music draught seems to have come to an end as the Albanian singer has dropped a hint of what might turn out to be the greatest chartbuster of the season by recreating a viral moment. On Monday, she took to Instagram to post a reel announcing the release of her new single ‘Dance the Night’. The reel which opens with the iconic “Barbie” cover showed the singer stepping into the frame wearing a pair of open-toed furry heels that Margot Robbie sports in the first official teaser of her upcoming movie Barbie. Dua then slips off her shoes to reveal her Barbie feet in picture-perfect arches.

The camera pans upwards to reveal the singer, wearing a pink halter neck fitted with golden shoulder straps and rhinestones and a brass-colored stacked choker, matching chunky ear studs, and finger rings, each of them decorated with blue butterflies. Her hair is pulled back in a sleek ponytail and she wears a nude lipstick while the iridescent eyeshadow steals the show. The singer blows a kiss at the camera and the video goes on to reveal her name and the date of release of the song. The single ‘Dance the Night’ is to be the theme song for Greta Gerwig’s upcoming movie and will officially hit streaming platforms on Friday, May 26.

Captioned “This Barbie has a song coming this week… FRIDAY MIDNIGHT BST 💖🪩”, the reel has already garnered over 2.3 million views, with celebrity fashion designer Donatella Versace herself commenting: “She’s a Versace Barbie 😉🦋”. Fans cannot seem to hold their excitement as the comment section was flooded with positive comments, one of which said, “WE HAD BEEN WAITING FOR IT FOR SO LONGGGG 😭😭😭”, while another one read, “It’s going to be on repeattttt as soon as it’s outtt🔥🔥🔥🔥”.

The announcement for the song came only days after she made headlines when she appeared at the Cannes Film Festival with her new partner French director Romain Gavras prior to the premiere of Élias Belkeddar’s Omar La Fraise (The King of Algiers). The singer was seen wearing a sexy one-shoulder black cut-out gown and sporting French girl bangs while Gavras wore a sharp black suit.

The Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling starrer Barbie is set to hit the theaters on July 21, 2023. The movie has created quite a stir among audiences ever since its announcement and the second teaser was dropped on April 4, 2023, on the official YouTube page of Warner Bros. Pictures.
