This year is the 11th of the IFPI Global Recording Artist of the Year Award. Taylor Swift has topped this year’s chart, and the success is more than any other artist during that time. Her 2023 win follows her successes in 2014, 2019 and 2022. The latest win of the artist follows a celestial year for Swift as she has topped three album releases back-to-back this year, Midnights, and Taylor’s Versions of Speak Now and 1989. Additionally, her record-breaking Eras Tour lifted entire audience engagement with her complete catalog on not just physical sales, but in streaming platforms all around the world. This phenomenon was displayed by the sudden resurgence of her track ‘Cruel Summer’ which was initially released in 2019 but topped the charts all around the world, four years later.

In IFPI’s Global Chart, K-Pop stars SEVENTEEN and Stray Kids were placed in second and third position respectively. Aside from Taylor Swift‘s extreme success, this year is also a record-breaking successful year for Korean artists. A total of four K-Pop acts featured in the Top 10 where TOMORROW X TOGETHER was placed at 7th position and NewJeans at the 8th position. Additionally, IVE and NCT Dream also made their first appearances in the IFPI Global Artist Chart Top 20 at 12th and 15th position respectively. Apart from the Korean musicians, the U.S. country artist Morgan Wallen also made his first appearance in the IFPI Global Artist chart. He was placed at the 6th position following the huge success of the 2023 release ‘One Thing At A Time’. Among the first timers, Lana Del Rey entered the Top 10 for the first time at number 10.
