The journey of Border 2 moved a step forward with the launch of its new song ‘Jaate Hue Lamhon’ at a grand event in Mumbai. Held at the United Services Club on January 12, the evening brought together the film’s cast and crew, along with singer and composer Vishal Mishra, who lent his voice to the recreated track. The event carried a sense of nostalgia while also setting the tone for what the makers promise will be an emotionally rich sequel. Vishal Mishra was not present only as a guest at the launch. He took the stage and performed ‘Jaate Hue Lamhon’ live, creating one of the most memorable moments of the evening. As he began to sing, the hall slowly fell silent. His voice carried a quiet intensity that drew everyone in and held their attention till the last note. The performance was intimate and honest, leaving the audience visibly moved by the song’s emotional impact.

‘Jaate Hue Lamhon’ was originally composed by Anu Malik with lyrics written by Javed Akhtar. For Border 2, the song has been recreated with care, keeping the soul of the original intact while giving it a fresh musical treatment. The new version is sung by Vishal Mishra along with Roop Kumar Rathod, blending contemporary sounds with the emotional depth that made the song timeless in the first place. The recreation was able to strike a balance between nostalgia and a modern sensibility, making it resonate with both long-time fans and new listeners.

The film is set to release on January 23, 2026, starring Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan, Ahan Shetty, and DiljitDosanjh. Ahead of the movie’s release, Varun Dhawan wrote on social media, “I was just a kid in class four when I went to Chandan cinema and saw Border. It made such a big impact. I still remember the sense of national pride we all felt in the hall.” He added, “JP Dutta sir’s war epic remains one of my most favourite movies to this day. To play a part in Border 2, produced by JP sir and Bhushan Kumar, is a very, very special moment in my career. And getting to work with Sunny Paaji – my hero – makes it all the more special.” The original Border film was set against the backdrop of the 1971 India-Pakistan war and went on to become one of the most iconic war films in Indian cinema. The sequel carries forward that legacy while introducing new characters and perspectives. Border 2 is produced by Gulshan Kumar and T Series in association with JP Dutta’s JP Films. Bhushan Kumar, Krishan Kumar, JP Dutta, and Nidhi Dutta serve as producers on the film.
