Following other members of BTS, Jung Kook is also preparing to join the South Korean Military and shares a sweet message for his fans on social media. Just two days ago, BIGHIT MUSIC announced that RM, Jimin, V, and Jungkook have started their military enlistment process and will soon be joining the country’s mandatory military service. Following this announcement, the youngest member of the K-pop boy band BTS, Jung Kook took to Weverse and Instagram to share an open letter to the ARMY, popularly known as the fanbase of the band.

“In December, I will start a new journey I’m leaving you for a while to serve in the military,” he wrote. “As I share this news, I feel heavy on one hand, and on the other hand, I’m reminded of precious memories with ARMY, so my heart warms up. Every moment I’ve spent with you has been the brightest time of my life. ARMY’s laughter, support, and love led me to this point. Thank you so much for supporting my dream and walking with me silently.”

The ‘Golden’ singer continued, “I’m careful to tell you to wait for me while I’m in the military. A year and a half is a long time, so I can’t say anything selfish. I promise that I’ll be back on stage with a more mature side where I always am I hope ARMY’s lives will always be full of laughter and happiness. I hope you fill in ARMY’s daily life healthily and beautifully. I’ll miss you deeply while waiting for the day we meet again and talk about something new. Don’t get sick and stay healthy. I love you.”

As expected the ARMYs became so emotional after receiving the news that the four other members of the group, RM, Jimin, V, and Jung Kook are all preparing to join the country’s military force and will be leaving soon. Now this sweet, yet extremely emotional open letter directed at the fan base was too much to comprehend for them in a single day. An honest reflection was seen on social media platforms as fans bombarded with crying emojis and tales of their heartbreaks.

The South Korean military requires enlistment and an 18-month mandatory military service from all able-bodied men by the time they are 28 years old. BTS and all its members following this requirement have put a pause on their group musical work in October 2022 to allow all 7 members to enlist. BTS is also expected to reunite when all of the members have completed their duty by 2025.
