American Elections 2020

On the last day of American Elections 2020, Lady Gaga made her voice heard at Joe Biden’s Event for a voting campaign. On Monday night, Gaga gives a passionate speech on a vote along with a performance on her songs ‘Shallow’ and ‘You & I ‘.

The drive-in rally was held in Pennsylvania which is the home state of Joe Biden and also one of the major swing states for this year’s election. Many artists and politicians joined the event to support Biden. Gaga and John Legend along with Dr. Jill Biden and Doug Emhoff, who is the husband of vice presidential nominee Kamala Harris, joined the rally to encourage people in Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania.

Lady Gaga with her flair of stage presence walked out to Childish Gambino’s song ‘This Is America’ by dancing and waving to the crowd before making her speech. With all the attention from the crowd and musicians, the enjoyable performance quickly turned into a serious note as Gaga started her speech in favor of Biden.

She said “This is a big one, Pennsylvania. So if you’re here, you probably already believe in Joe Biden. I know I believe in Joe Biden. You probably already believe he’s the right choice over Donald Trump. You don’t need me to tell you why,”. With a clear inclination towards Joe, she also said “Because, like me, you’ve experienced the last four years and have all the evidence you need to look at this choice and know in your heart without any doubt that Joe Biden is the right choice.”

She addresses the unique status of Pennsylvania State in this year’s election and encourages every listener to cast a vote for Joe Biden. With her Inspiring lines like, “Now is the time to show up and vote like this country depends on it, because it does. And I want to remind you, listen to me, I want to remind you and all the people who are listening. We all know that this thing may come down to Pennsylvania,” Gaga is clearly showing some trust and confidence. She also said “We need you, we need your family, we need your friends, we need your heart. Vote like your life depends on it, or vote like your children’s lives depends on it because they do.” This really moved the crowd. With a reference to Donald Trump’s past comments about women, she expresses with agitation that “Everybody, no matter how you identify, now is your chance to vote against Donald Trump, a man who believes his fame gives him the right to grab one of your daughters, or sisters, or mothers or wives by any part of their bodies,”. Then she ended her speech by saying “Vote for Joe. He’s a good person.”

Not really happy with Gaga’s speech, Trump at his campaign on Monday, said  “Lady Gaga… is not too good. I could tell you plenty of stories. I could tell you stories about Lady Gaga. I know a lot of stories”. Donald Trump’s  Communication director Tim Murtaugh called her “anti-fracking activist” as her appearance may raise questions on Biden’s policy on the Fracking of natural gas and oil.

Moving forward from the controversies, Gaga performed the song ‘Shallow’ from her hit movie “A Star Is Born,” later on that night of the event. With the reference of the song she addressed her listeners and said “You’ve got a lot of heart. This is not shallow people. And I’m going to sing this song hoping this whole state can hear me.”During her performance on the song ‘You & I’ she referred to Biden as her “Pennsylvania guy.”
