Elizabeth Mele-Hines, his wife, said that interstitial lung disease was the cause of his death. He passed away at the hospital. Denny is one of the pioneers of British rock music from the early era of the 1960s. The Golden ear of rock ‘n roll started with the influence of the young musicians who soaked up the essence of American Blues. Popular musical personas and bands like The Beatles, Spencer Davis, Eric Clapton, and many others were friends with Denny. He used to frequently collaborate with them.

He was a native of Birmingham, England who later moved to London after the first band Denny Laine and the Diplomats broke up. After that, he joined four other talented personas from the Birmingham area namely Mike Pinder, Ray Thomas, Graeme Edge, and Clint Warwick who helped him to form the M&B 5. It was an R&B band which named after a Birmingham brewery, and soon; they changed the name to Moody Blues. Mr. Laine worked with the band till 1966 by the time two albums were formed. However, the 1964’s No. 1 hit, “Go Now!” was the biggest milestone when he sang the lead.

After leaving the band, Denny worked on solo projects for 5 more years and could often work with other bands, like Ginger Baker’s Air Force. It was the time when he got acquainted with Paul McCartney with his singing and guitar-playing skills. By the year of 1971, McCartney was already looking forward to creating a band after parting with The Beatles. In an interview in 2019, Mr. Laine described the cold call from McCartney and said, “He said, ‘Do you want to do something? Get on a plane, we’re in Scotland,’”

Mr. Laine was an equal member of the musical group Paul McCartney and Wings who appeared in a total of seven studio albums. He was inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 2018, However, his exceptional influence in the music industry will remain eternally.
