“this is what they do to keep you from winning” said Minaj, showing her anger and disappointment towards Youtube’s decision. The song was released on September 25th with the Jamaican dancehall performer and artist, Skeng. The following day, the rapper took to Instagram to share a screenshot that was sent to her from Youtube, notifying the artist that only users of Youtube who have accounts over or at the age of 18 years will be able to see her newly released video, banning any other accounts under 18 years of age on the platform.

Sharing her anger toward the decision, Minaj further asked the audience to imagine the gravity of this decision on the social platform. She further stated, “They restricted my f*cking video but have things a million f*cking times worse on their BOGUS FKNG PLATFORM”. According to the screenshot, Youtube stated and deemed the video because it was “not suitable for viewers under the age of 18”.

The video of ‘Likke Miss (Remix)’ is visually fun and features a group of partygoers having fun, drinking, and dancing, creating an ideal environment for a dancehall rap song. A group of female dancers also joined Minaj and twerked throughout the entire video, where then the male dancers joined occasionally to give suggestive and teasing poses.

Following the backlash from the artist herself, on Monday Youtube removed the age restriction from the video by issuing a statement to Complex that the platform has removed the age restriction from the video because “after determining the video didn’t violate our Community Guidelines.” Following that, the rapper also deleted her two Instagram posts on Monday night.

On The posts that the rapper posted on her Instagram, she accused Youtube, the video streaming platform of siding with certain artists. She further stated, “being in bed with a whole record label and management company”. Without naming any agency or label she first started with these accusations which her label also did not escape and she claimed that her label has diminished to buy promo for her music videos.

She further went ahead and accused Lyor Cohen of 300 Entertainment, also the global head of music for Google and YouTube saying, “this is what they do to keep you from winning while doing ads for other ppl and posting FAKE FKNG STATS. the same ppl who run YouTube are in bed with a certain record label and mngmnt company.”.
