Seoul police have reportedly raided YG Entertainment in connection with an ongoing copyright infringement investigation. It involves K-pop star G-Dragon and the company’s founder, Yang Hyun Suk. According to reports from allkpop, Mapo Police Station confirmed that the action stemmed from a complaint filed in November of 2024 by an unidentified composer. The complainant alleges that YG Entertainment reproduced his song without permission. The company also allegedly distributed it as part of one of G-Dragon’s albums later. Since the case began, investigators have reportedly carried out two search-and-seizure operations, with at least one targeting YG Entertainment’s offices. Police have not disclosed further details as they cited the active investigation.

In a follow-up report by TV Report, it was claimed that the disputed track was modified and reworked into ‘My Age Is 13’. This altered version was allegedly included in a medley titled ‘My Age Is 13 + Storm + Hip Hop Gentlemen + G-Dragon’ on the artist’s 2010 live album ‘Shine a Light’. The news has stirred controversy among fans, and many of them expressed frustration and disappointment over the accusations. While the investigation continues, the allegations have put renewed scrutiny on YG Entertainment’s handling of music rights and past releases. Industry observers have also said that the outcome could have significant implications for how intellectual property disputes are addressed in the K-pop scene. The way might change, particularly when it involves high-profile artists and influential executives.

Some fans further questioned the timing and scale of the raids and suggested that the move was unusual for a case this old. Others argued that such operations would only be approved if police had already found ‘substantial grounds’ to proceed. Many people on social media expressed surprise that the alleged infringement dates back more than a decade. This sparked speculation about why the issue is emerging now. The renewed attention has fueled debates about transparency and accountability. It also made people wonder about how long past disputes can continue to affect artists and entertainment companies. “They must have had a reason to do it, so why overreact? lol” a fan commented. In a post translated from Korean, another fan said, “When they do something this extreme in a case like this, there’s usually a reason behind it.” A concerned fan also commented, “Feels like the prosecution just wants to keep making noise about GD~ Since the drug thing didn’t work out, maybe they got an order to dig into anything they can find.”
