The album includes five new songs written by Samsara. The title track, “Love For Christmas” is a witty jazzy letter to Santa, in which Samsara asks him to bring her a new lover. “Christmas Tree” has a traditional flavor and poignantly portrays the contrast between sad lonely holidays of the past with hope for a better holiday season this year. “Christmas Cheer,” driven by the lively Wurlitzer piano is a catchy song inviting listeners to sing along to join the festivities. “Mary Said Yes” is an inspirational tribute to Mary, the mother of Jesus, with a punchy drum beat contrasting with soothing piano. “Merry Christmas” is a heartwarming song that wishes listeners a happy new year in four different languages.
“Love For Christmas” also offers fresh and unique interpretations of six classic Christmas songs. Samsara’s haunting ethereal rendition of the English traditional “Coventry Carol” contrasts the joy of Jesus’ birth with the fear of King Herod’s massacre of infant boys. There are unique takes of classic songs such as “O Holy Night” and “We Three Kings.” A passionate performance of “What Child Is This” starts with a slow piano gradually building to the climax of the song. Samsara flirts with Santa in a jazzy old-fashioned piano take on “Santa Baby.” Last but not least is a poignant rendition of Joni Mitchell’s “River,” which perfectly conveys the sadness of a holiday breakup.
Samsara’s “Love For Christmas” reflects Samsara’s creative musical talents with her passion for Christmas. Samsara says, “My goal was to create an album that brings peace, joy and inspiration during this holiday season.”
