The Indian fusion band, Shakti, is making Indians proud as they have gotten two major nominations for the 68th Grammy Awards. Recently, it has come to know that their new album, named ‘Mind Explosion’, has been nominated for Best Global Music Album. And on the other hand, the song ‘Shrini’s Dream’ is nominated for Best Global Music Performance. These are truly one of the biggest achievements.

In a recent statement, Mahadevan has said ‘Unfortunately, Zakirsaheb is no more, so we are dedicating his album to him. He and John McLaughlin started Shakti 50 years back, and I came in the year 2000. leading it now, it’s a blessing, really’. This new album of the band has the essence of sadness. In this album, they have compiled all their recordings of 25-30 live concerts from their European and US tour.
The loss of Hussain made a huge impact on the band, Shankar Mahadevan has stated, ‘It’s a void that can’t be filled. Creating a cohesive album from live shows was challenging, but we did it and it’s an honour to be recognised with two Grammy nominations. We will miss him a lot’. It is obvious that losing such a talented music artist is the most heartbreaking thing for a music band. They were in a long process of releasing the album in the absence of Hussain. The band is now working again to get back to their form. They are now willing to work more on new pieces of music and offer them to their listeners.
