Famous American singer-songwriter Teyana Taylor made a shocking announcement on her Instagram on Friday. In an emotional post, she claimed that she will be retiring from the music world as felt ‘super underappreciated as an artist.’

In a lengthy post, the 29-year-old musician described her disappointment with the treatment she got from the industry. Alongside the post, she shared a snapshot of her year-end Spotify statistics with the tag ‘2020 Artist Wrapped’.

She said ‘Wow, who did that? Y’all did that!” Thank you,” Taylor’s post began. “I ain’t [gonna] front, in times of feeling super under-appreciated as [an] artist, receiving little to no real push from the ‘machine,’ constantly getting the shorter end of the stick, being overlooked, I mean the list on and on lol …’

Teyana thanked her fans for loving her music and playing it across the globe. She also explained in the post that she is trying to stay positive amidst all this saying, ‘I’m retiring this chapter of my story with the comfort that I can depart with peace of mind seeing that all the hard work & passion put in was indeed loved & supported somewhere in the world!’

The ‘Concrete’ singer still has not revealed her future plans but she said, ‘All hustlers have the understanding that when one door closes another will open … either that or I’m picking da locks petunia!!!’

She has released three albums VII, K.T.S.E., and The Album with GOOD Music and Def Jam. She has teamed up with a lot of famous artists and made appearances in the music video of ‘Fade’ by Kanye West.

She has been working as a dancer, choreographer, actress, runway model, and shoe designer since the tender age of 15.

She married NBA free agent Iman Shumpert and they have their own VH reality show called Teyana & Iman. The s show is most likely to get a second season. In September, the couple has welcomed their second child, a baby girl with assistance from Erykah Badu.
