Casey Bishop, a top-four finalist on “American Idol,” made a daring leap Sunday night, sitting down with coach Finneas to perform Billie Eilish’s “Wish You Were Gay.” She wowed the song’s co-writer/producer as well as the judges, but amid all the love, it seems that not everyone wishes she would stay.

Bishop, dressed in white, performed an emotional rendition of the tune, garnering acclaim from the judges.

“You just crushed every aspect of that whole thing,” Luke Bryan said. “In my opinion, it was your best; it was the perfect song to choose and seeing you have so much fun with Finneas.” Bryan had predicted early in auditions that Bishop would win the singing competition. Lionel Richie said she found her “personae,” while Katy Perry declared Bishop a future star.

“I know, you found your stardust and you’re swimming in it,” Perry said. “You found that instant identity. You look up to Billie Eilish, but whether or not you win ‘American Idol,’ you are going to be your next hero.”

But Bishop’s “Idol” quest came to an end on Sunday night, when Chayce Beckham, Willie Spence, and Grace Kintsler emerged as the top three and advanced to the hometown shows and next week’s finale. Former Fleetwood Mac member Lindsey Buckingham, Alessia Cara, Chaka Khan, Fall Out Boy, Luke Combs, Macklemore, Mickey Guyton, Sheryl Crow, and all three “Idol” judges will compete at the season finale.

“I want front row seats,” said Richie.

Bishop received online acclaim from Motley Crue and other celebrities, including SZA and “American Idol” season 10 alum Haley Reinhart, as well as Chris Cornell’s daughter, Lily, following her appearance of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun.” She has done two duets with Incubus singer Brandon Boyd, including “Wish You Were Here,” covered Alanis Morisette’s “Ironic,” impressed Coldplay singer Chris Martin with her rendition of “Paradise,” and did a full 180 with a lighter version of “Over the Rainbow” from the film “The Wizard of Oz.”

“I don’t feel alone when I listen to your music,” she said.

Bishop also performed a stunning duet with “Idol” contestant Chayce Beckham on the Finneas ballad “Break My Heart Again.”
