Spotify announced that they will be granting the wish of Neil Young and removing the singer-songwriter’s music from the platform, on the 26th of January.

The decision came after two days since Neil published an open letter which was published in various new reporting sites. The letter said that Neil will withdraw his whole musical works from that platform if they don’t stop spreading the vaccine misinformation story on Joe Rogan Experience Podcast.

His letter said the word ‘They can have Rogan or Young. Not both’. This letter was addressed to his manager along with the co-chairman and COO of Warner Records, which releases Young’s music through its Reprise Records imprint.

The musician penned another two letters after the announcement made by Spotify, that they are actually honoring the request of the singer-songwriter by removing the catalog from the Spotify services.

The later letter by Neil said, ‘Losing 60% of worldwide streaming income by leaving SPOTIFY is a very big deal, a costly move, but worth it for our integrity and beliefs,’ he also added ‘Misinformation about COVID is over the line.’

Moreover, in the light of the news, Sirius XM announced that they will launch ‘Neil Young Radio’. The offer is only for the veteran singer performing rock music for over a decade. Along with Apple Music, TIDAL, Deezer, and Qobuz reminded the fans that they still offer his music.

‘When you have an opportunity to present an iconic artist still at the height of his creativity, you don’t hesitate to do it, again,’ the general manager of music programming, Steve Blatter said in the statement.

He also added, ‘Outspoken, brave, and a true music icon, Neil Young is in a rare class of artists, and we are honored to collaborate with him to create a special audio experience for his fans.’

In support of the ‘Heart of Gold’ singer, his fans have begun a boycott campaign against Spotify on Twitter. They are tweeting that they will be canceling their subscriptions with the hashtag #SpotifyDeleted and #CancelSpotify, both of which were trending now on Twitter.

Previously the company gave a hint of deleting his music by saying, ‘it’s still available but it is smart to listen to Zuma and Rust Never Sleeps while you still can. They could disappear any moment.’

‘I want to thank my truly great and supportive record company Warner Brothers – Reprise Records, for standing with me in my decision to pull all my music from Spotify. Thank You!’ the singer said in his concluding line.
