The return of ‘American Idol’ went all wrong, sparking controversy as viewers’ claim it ruined!

It seems that ‘American Idol’ fans are far from being pleased with the shows’ Monday episode that featured the last season’s contestants. The participants made a comeback to perform live on stage with what according to Ryan Seacrest is the biggest shakeup in the show’s history.

The ten former contestants who were unable to perform on the show’s main stage back in 2020 due to the limitations thrown by the coronavirus made a comeback on Monday’s episode. This was done to allow them to snatch a spot in the season’s top 10!

While Judge Katy Perry seemed to be quite okay with the last-minute shuffle, it however didn’t go down well with the viewers of the show, who found it to be a rip-off to the current season’s contestants.

A Twitter user reacted to the scene stating that this #AmericanIdol comeback is completely unfair because of how the runner-up is even in the running. The user further claimed that he had an entire season gaining fans and had an entire year to perfect his craft.

Another person said that they are so sad for this season’s entertainers and called ABC’s move unfair.

Another person tweeted that they have been watching #AmericanIdol since the very beginning and the cast usually gets it right. But it’s quite surprising for them to see something like this because how did they get it so wrong with the stupid comeback! The person urged to bring them back and give them the full experience, which would be fantastic but the Number 10 spot certainly belongs to this year’s talent.

Monday’s episode saw Franklin Boone, Faith Becnel, Dwayne Crocker Jr., Arthur Gunn, Cyniah Elise, Aliana Jester, Nick Merico, Louis Knight, Makayla Phillips, and Olivia Ximines heading back to the stage of American Idol. It was just one night prior, when the Season 19 competitors, Ava August, Madison Watkins, and Beane were eliminated.

The Idol fans voiced their utter frustration with the not-so-happening comeback episode with some of them declaring that if it didn’t work out the way it already did, some of the eliminated contestants from this current season would have surely made it through to the top 10.

One of Madison Watkin’s fans said she was robbed!

Another viewer tweeted to Watkins @AmericanIdol that the comeback show was a clear joke and that she was so much better than most of the artists who even stepped on the stage. And, suggested that ABC should certainly sign her up for a record deal or even her show!

There was another viewer who pledged support for August and asked whether or not is there any option to vote Ava back again, seriously. Another tweet read that she should have been never voted off as she was so much better than any of the comebacks.

Another unhappy person watching the show at home claimed that the twist in the plot is perhaps the worst thing to have happened on the ABC singing competition series so far.

Another wrote about Sunday’s eliminated contestants that this comeback stuff has completely ruined the season for everyone. Ad no one from last year deserves to be in the Top 10 over any of the eliminated three contestants.

However, the representatives for ABC did not immediately return for comment on the changes.
