Rapper Travis Scott has finally opened up about the tragic incident at Astroworld Festival. This is the first interview after the incident hosted by Charlamagne Tha God.

The incident took place on 5th November and a total of 10 people died, crushed by a huge crowd. More than hundreds of people were severely injured. The firefighters and Houston Police declared it as a ‘mass casualty event’ that never happened before.

Travis Scott continued to perform for 37 minutes after the incident happened and went to an after-party after the concert claiming that he was not aware of the casualties and the extent of the event. For enhancing the situation and showing reluctance to it, the rapper is facing more than 100 lawsuits.

The rapper explained in the interview that, he has been going through an ‘emotional rollercoaster’ in the last month. He tried to justify his feelings by saying, “a lot of feelings, a lot of grieving and trying to wrap my head around it, ya know?”

The rapper even tried to offer funeral expenses for the victims but half of them rejected it as they consider the reason for death is no one but Travis Scott himself.

He also said, “It really just hurts. It hurts the community, it hurts the city. There’s been a lot of thoughts, a lot of feelings, a lot of grieving, and just trying to wrap my head around it.”

Earlier this week, Travis denied being liable for the incident and asked the court to reduce his charges and dismiss him considering as a defendant. The raper further expressed that he is doing the interview just to communicate with people, as a “human being”.

He further said that he was unaware of the number of people being seriously injured as he is used to such incidents where people pass out in the long events. There were more than 50,000 excited audiences and it was hard to figure out what actually happened.

When host Charlamagne brought up the topic of his extended performance of 37 minutes, the rapper explained that there was a miscommunication. Travis said, “They just told me right after the guests get off stage”

He further added that he only heard, “we’re gonna end the show. That’s what we did. Other than that, there was no other communication.”

With all the tragic incidents and great remorse, attorney Robert Hilliard who stood in solidarity with the victims said, “We need to get to the full unvarnished truth as quickly as possible so healing can begin.”
