Roberta Joan “Joni” Mitchell, better known as Joni Mitchell, was born on November 7, 1943, in Alberta Canada. Her father served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and after the second world war, the war veteran moved to Saskatchewan and settle there with his family. Later on, she won a total of 8 Grammy awards throughout her musical career and has been nominated 17 times more. She received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002 for embracing diversity, imagination, and integrity in music unlike any female music artist before. In 1997, she has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She was also honored with the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1981. Other than that she has also received a handful of Juno Awards along with Polar Music Awards which is a high achievement for any music artist of that era. In 2021, the artist received Kennedy Center Honoree for her lifelong contributions.
