Roberta Joan “Joni” Mitchell, better known as Joni Mitchell, was born on November 7, 1943, in Alberta Canada. Her father served in the Royal Canadian Air Force and after the second world war, the war veteran moved to Saskatchewan and settle there with his family. So, when it comes to Joni Mitchell family, there is not much musical influence. Mitchell cultivated a creative aura of her own and preferred to paint and sing more than study. After quitting school in 12th grade. She went through a fair share of ups and downs in life and it reflected through her music as well. She received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2002 for embracing diversity, imagination, and integrity in music unlike any female music artist before. In 1997, she has been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She was also honored with the Canadian Music Hall of Fame in 1981.
