Arijit Singh, India’s favorite singer of the generation is a talented singer, music composer, and musician who not only lend his voice to Hindi films but Bengali, and other regional languages as well. Having started his musical journey from Fame Gurukul in 2005, a reality TV singing competition, the singer has contributed some greatest melodies to the Indian Cinema. He is one of the very few artists whose voice and name are engraved in almost all movies, with every song topping across the charts.

Born on 25th April 1987 in the small town of Jiaganj Murshidabad, West Bengal, this talented singer did his schooling at Raja Bijay Singh High School, Murshidabad, and went ahead to pursue his graduation from Sripat Singh College. Speaking of his family background, his aunt was trained in music, and his maternal grandmother used to be a singer. However, Arijit began his music training from home. Music was always the core of his family. At the early age of 3, he got trained by the Hazari Brothers and also got his training in Indian Classical Music by Rajendra Prasad Hazari, Rabindra Sangeet, and Pop Music by Birendra Prasad Hazari, and table by Dhirendra Prasad Hazari.

Born to a Punjabi family, he was married to Ruprekha Banerjee in 2013, who was one of the finalists of the reality TV show Fame Gurukul. However, the marriage didn’t last long and Arijit remarried Koyel Roy Singh in 2014, who was his childhood sweetheart.

Arijit’s first stepping stone towards his journey to fame began when he participated in Fame Gurukul on the advice of his mentor Rajendra Prasad Hazari. Thereafter he enrolled himself in another reality show named ‘10Ke 10Le Gaye Dil’, where he won the competition. He invested the entire prize money to build his music studio and worked as a freelance artist for commercials, TV channels, and radio stations.

Arijit Singh recorded his 1st Bollywood song ‘Phir Mohabbat’ from Murder 2 in 2009 and went on to release multiple blockbuster hits like ‘Tum Hi Ho’, ‘Raabta’, and many others.

He achieved the Best Male Playback Singer Award for ‘Roke Na Ruke Naina’ in 2018, for ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ in 2017, for ‘Sooraj Dooba Hain’ in 2016, and for ‘Tum Hi Ho’ in 2014. He also bagged the national film award for the song ‘Binte Dil’ in 2019.
