The hip-hop artist provides an eclectic delivery through his rapping style that is both captivating and enjoyable. Let’s find out more about this talented artist through his own words.

DMR. ‘Gra Ta Taa Taa’ gained much attention from fans. What are your personal feelings about the project?
SteppaDon Musiq. Gra Ta Taa Taa actually started as a freestyle. For me, it’s gonna always be more of an opening song it helped me find my sound and my direction as an artist. I don’t look at it as my best work, but it was an important moment because it introduced people to me and got a lot of attention. Then after that it’s just me building on it.
DMR. From Jamaica to Brooklyn, New York, how would you describe your journey?
SteppaDon Musiq. Leaving Jamaica wasn’t easy. I grew up around a lot of violence and struggle, so survival was really part of my upbringing. But I believe God had a bigger plan for me. Coming to New York felt familiar in some ways because there’s still that edge and intensity, but at the same time, there’s way more opportunity. I’ve loved music since I was young, but back then I didn’t have the space to chase it seriously. When I got to New York, I saw a real chance and I took it. And now I’m stepping in as one of the hottest upcoming artists.
DMR. Do you think hip-hop can bring a change in society?
SteppaDon Musiq. Hip-hop reflects real life. When it’s real, it can inspire, educate, and show people that their circumstances don’t define their future.
DMR. What are your views on the modern hip-hop industry?
SteppaDon Musiq. I think the modern hip-hop industry has more opportunity than ever, but it also tests your identity. Trends can come but trends can also go, so staying consistent is what really matters
DMR. Blending Caribbean energy with New York grit, how did you come up with the idea?
SteppaDon Musiq. It wasn’t really something I sat down and planned, it’s just who I am. I grew up in the Caribbean, then I came to New York and it just became part of me. When I make music, both sides come out naturally. People connect with it, and once I saw that, I ain’t see a reason to stop. I also realized it gives me the chance to reach a wider audience not just New York, but the Caribbean and international listeners too
DMR. As a prominent Hip-hop and Rap artist, what advice would you like to give to fellow rappers?
SteppaDon Musiq. Don’t rush the spotlight. Build your foundation first.
DMR. How SteppaDon stands out in this modern hip-hop landscape?
SteppaDon Musiq. I don’t follow what others are doing. I move off instinct. My energy real, and whether people like it or not, it’s undeniable.
DMR. Tell us something about SG (Steppa Gang).
SteppaDon Musiq. SG stands for Steppa Gang, and I AM the founder and leader of it. It’s a collective and a movement I built around loyalty, growth, and unity. It’s not just a street gang, it functions more like a family, both online and in real life, with everyone pushing each other forward.
DMR. Can you walk us through your creative process of making music?
SteppaDon Musiq. My creative process is very intentional. I understand music and how it’s supposed to feel, so I don’t rush it. I usually practice a song first before I decide on it, making sure the sound and delivery is on time . I also study top artists and rappers, not to copy them, but to understand structure, timing, and how they shape their records. Then I take that knowledge and turn it into my own style
DMR. Would you like to collaborate with other genres or artists from different genres to create music?
SteppaDon Musiq. Yeah, I’m open to collaborating with different genres and artists. I think it’s good for growth. Right now though, my main focus is building my own brand and sound first, once I do, the collaborations will come naturally
DMR. Do you consider your Jamaican roots to be a core element of your music?
SteppaDon Musiq. Yea, definitely. The aggressiveness, the confidence, and the way I deliver my words all come from that background, it’s natural. That’s why my sound is different from everyone else.
DMR. What would you like to say to your fans?
SteppaDon Musiq. To all my fan that’s supporting me, I appreciate it. Im always working and you’ll see what’s next when it HIT.
Thank you so much for taking out your time for us. A big congratulations once again, and all the very best for your upcoming releases.
