Ed Sheeran Returns to Dublin from ‘where it all began’

Global pop star Ed Sheeran returns to his roots, despite all the Irish cynicism, and this time he came for a secret Spotify show specially arranged for fans only. The show took place at the Royal Dublin Society, and it was a celebration for Sheeran becoming a 14-time member of Spotify’s Billions Club.

The born-and-bred Englishman has faced a fair share of teasing from the Irish cynics, but it could not stop him from embracing his homeland through life and music. The Monday night gathering includes around 2,000 of Sheeran’s “top fans” who were selected based on the listening data of the fans on the platform of Spotify.

Ed Sheeran made sure to remind fans of his family tree, where his father, John, is a native of Belfast, while her mother grew up in County Wexford. Talking about Ireland, the popstar said that it is a “special place for me musically. I feel this is where it all began.” The crowd was cheering while wearing forest green baseball caps as a sign of the Sheeran’s Billions Club membership.

This special concert was full of fun as the streaming service also brought in a small group of influencers from Europe and the US to attend the show and cover it instead of the regular media. Sheeran made the crowd go crazy with his signature set that includes only him with his acoustic guitar and loop pedal. He offered a spectacular performance that took place under 90 minutes, offering a delightful taste of a personal concert.

Sheeran appeared on stage in a white tee and black pants and started his set with the recent single ‘Sapphire’. This casual dressing sense and magical voice are what fans dig for, and he did not fail to impress them. The singer-songwriter performed all the tracks that helped him earn the status of the Billions Club on Spotify.

When it comes to the list of the top tracks, “Shape of You” was the first song to hit the mark of a billion streams, and soon that record was followed by another song from his collection, “The A Team.” This song was released in 2010, and it marks the initiation of Ed Sheeran’s professional career. Sheeran said that the track “has taken me from pubs to stadiums and been the same song the whole way.”

The fans made sure to bounce hard while the beats of “Castle on the Hill” and “Bad Habits” kicked in. He also performed other smash hits such as “Thinking Out Loud,” “Perfect,” and “I See Fire,” a soundtrack of “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug.” In a nutshell, Sheeran Billions Club performance was wild!
