Listening to music has always been helpful for better sleep. In recent times scientists have found out that loud music also has the ability to fall asleep. It is an obvious thing that different people choose variant kinds of music while sleeping. There is no certain genre or specific list of music that is more useful.

Recently Kira Vibe Jespersen, the assistant professor of the Centre for Music in the Brain at Aarhus University in Denmark has said that ‘Our hypothesis is that familiarity with the music makes the music very predictable to the brain, and this predictability may enable sleep, despite the music being upbeat and energetic’.

To make the research even better and to analyze them, scientists have used 200000 songs from 1000 Spotify playlists. These playlists are made especially for enhancing sleep. In most cases, in people’s playlists, they have found more songs that are slow and calm. But in the study, they have also found out that in those playlists, there are a lot of energetic songs too that people usually don’t consider while sleeping. For example, there were tracks like ‘Dynamite’ by the band BTS, ‘The Scientist’ by Coldplay, and ‘Lovely’ by Billie Eilish ft. Khalid. All these tracks are higher-degree but found in the playlist of listeners.

These are some tracks that are not popularly known for sleeping. From this research, it is known that there is a large variation of music in the sleep-enhancing playlist. Kira Vibe Jespersen has also said ‘I was surprised by the amount of variation in the music that people choose to listen to for sleep…I was expecting some degree of variation, but not that much’.

Researchers are saying that to come to a prominent conclusion, they need to get their hands on the sleep data of users. Otherwise, they cannot gather the knowledge of what kind of music is more helpful for better sleep. But they confirm one thing different people find relaxation in different kinds of songs. Thus it is not abnormal to listen to higher-degree music for sleeping. Along with that she also said that they need to know more about the clinical use of music and its effectiveness.
