Despite their wide success and amazing musical creations, the band never got its chance to perform at the Coachella before but this time, they have done it! Green Day Brought Back Memories
Green Day offered their debut performance at the festival and it was definitely a hefty dose of nostalgia for everyone who grew up listening to amazing punk rock tracks like ‘Good Riddance’, ‘Boulevard of Broken Dreams’, ’21 Guns’, and many others. These songs are not just musical creations but have helped many individuals deal with their mental and existential crises in life. Both longtime music lovers and newcomers, everyone attended Coachella to enjoy this band and it made the size of the crowd gigantic.

The punk energy was quite high with the crowd joined the band and sang along with Queen’s anthem “Bohemian Rhapsody.” The Punk Bunny mascot also joined the stage and it seemed like Green Day took the audiences back in the American Idiot and Dookie era when the music industry was rather different. It was very nostalgic for many fans as well as an enthralling experience that they had been waiting for too long. The stage was built to welcome the band with a giant American Idiot symbol where an installation of a giant hand holding a heart grenade was built. As a band appeared on stage, the crowd went wild and welcomed them.

Green Day is best known for voicing through their songs and showing their protest against the discrimination of human rights and racial injustice. They did not miss this chance either and just like any classic show, they said on stage “I’m not part of a MAGA agenda.” The set list of the band also included “Hitchin’ a Ride,” “Holiday”, etc many other powerful bangers. There were also emotive musical works like “Wake Me Up When September Ends.” They also performed “Boulevard of Broken Dreams,” when all the concert-goers held up their phone and turned the whole arena into a starry night. While they were performing the track “Know Your Enemy,” the band called a fan upon stage named Brooke as they do in their every live performance.
The second weekend was equally powerful and memorable like the first one and Green Day did not disappoint the crowd. While the band was offering their punk waves, the stage was joined by Punk Bunny again but this time it was rapper Flavor Flav inside the mascot! The set list was almost the same as the first weekend and during the performance of “Know Your Enemy”, Billie Joe Armstrong again called upon a fan from the crowd. The Green Day is best known for giving away guitars to their fans and they kept that legacy on. They performed a very early track called “Knowledge,” which was a cover for Operation Ivy.
What Comes After Coachella?
Green Day is definitely planning for more this year and fans are eagerly waiting for it. The band has recently received their first Hollywood Walk of Fame which celebrates its success in the industry. They are ready to drop a deluxe edition of ‘Saviors’ which is all set to release on 23rd May. The album project will be offering five brand new tracks like “Smash It Like Belushi”,“Ballyhoo,” and many others. It is evident Green Day is back with a big bang!
