GloRilla lit up the 2025 BET Awards with a bold two-song set that had everyone talking about the evening. Dressed in a tribute outfit that gave Michael Jackson’s ‘smooth Criminal’ in the front and Prince at the 1991 MTV VMAs in the back, she blended style, drama, and performance in true superstar fashion.
The rapper opened her set with the viral hit ‘Let Her Cook’, backed by a lively kitchen crew cooking up a storm on stage. Glo showed off her moves with tight choreography, then surprised the crowd with a tap dance interlude before finishing the track. Things took a turn for the better when she threw in a white fur coat, walked over a patio, and set the mood right. That is when Keyshia Cole appeared and performed her classic ‘Love’. The performance flowed right into GloRilla’s newest single ‘Typa’. It is a track that samples Cole’s original hit. Then the Memphis rapper came into the night with four BET Award nominations, including Album of the Year for ‘Glorious’. While that trophy went to Kendrick Lamar for ‘GNX’, Glo still had a major moment at night.
Fresh off a high-energy performance at the Roots Picnic in Philly, fans joked she summoned a rainstorm on stage after rapping the lime “It’s 7p.m. Friday/ It’s 95 degrees” from her track ‘TGIF’. Back in March, she was honored with the Powerhouse Award at Billboard Women in Music 2025. On stage, she gave a heartfelt shoutout to all the “beautiful ladies” in the room, letting that signature Memphis accent shine bright. From iconic outfits to big stages, it is sure that Big Glo is having a serious moment!
In other reports, the night of the BET Awards 2025 was an eventful one. The most emotional moment of the night came during the tribute to Jamie Foxx, who received the Ultimate Icon Award. The honor was presented by music legend Stevie Wonder. Foxx, who suffered a serious brain bleed and stroke last year, looked deeply moved after the In Memoriam segment aired just before his tribute.
During his speech, he shared that watching it made him think, “That could have been me.” Instead, he stood on stage alive and grateful. He thanked everyone for their love and support during his crucial times, taking in the powerful performances that celebrated his legacy and long career. The tribute included performances from Craig Robinson, Kenneth “Babyface” Edmonds, Ludacris, Tank, Jennifer Hudson, T-Pain, Doug E. Fresh, and Teddy Riley.
The second Ultimate Icon Award of the night was presented to Mariah Carey and hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes presented the honor. Carey accepted the award by saying, “If you’re gonna get one, might as well start with the Ultimate Icon Award!”
