Ed Sheeran Says He is All About Being a Girl Dad!

Ed Sheeran might be taking over the world with his music, but he has always kept his personal life quiet. Still, being a girl dad to two little daughters has clearly melted his heart. While chatting on the Not Gonna Lie podcast with Kylie Kelce, Ed could not hold back his joy. Talking about life with his wife Cherry Seaborn and their daughters, Lyra and Jupiter, he had a heartfelt moment that showed just how much he loves being a dad.

When Kylie joked about Ed being outnumbered by “estrogen” at home, the ‘Sapphire’ singer smiled, clearly embracing his role as a proud girl dad. The ‘Shape of You’ singer said, “I love it. Like, I really, really, really love it”. Ed Sheeran also revealed the moment he realized he was born to be a girl dad. Before holding his first daughter, he did not have a preference for a boy or a girl. But the instant he held her in his arms, everything changed. He felt an unexplainable bond and knew he was made for this. “I didn’t really have any expectation…I think when you’re having children, it wasn’t like ‘I want this or that’ (shrugs shoulders). When we had our first daughter, it was like, I don’t know, something just clicked and I was like ‘I think I can have many, many, many daughters, and be, so, so fulfilled and happy’ “, he shared.

Speaking about his daughters, Lyra Antarctica Seaborn Sheeran, who is almost 5, and Jupiter, 3, Ed shared his thoughts with a big smile and a full heart. He added, “I love having two. I love seeing them interact with each other…they’re just great, just great”.

While Ed did not directly say being a girl dad was better, he playfully hinted at it with a cheeky story about his best friend, who has two boys the same age as Lyra and Jupiter. His tone and grin said it all; he clearly loved the sweetness of life with his daughters. “And also my best mate has had two boys and they live opposite us, and…(pauses and smiles), there is a stark difference. And they’re exactly the same age, we have the same ethos, and we hang out like all the time, but the energy is different”, he joked.

Ed married his longtime love Cherry Seaborn in December 2018, just before the holidays. They welcomed their first daughter, Lyra, in August 2020, and their second, Jupiter, in May 2022. Ed later shared with James Corden that fatherhood has deeply enriched his life and changed his perspective for the better. “It just feels like what life was meant to be. It’s great. I’m healthier than I’ve ever been. I’m exercising every day…I’m spending so much time at home making the record. Yeah, I feel like a human being. It’s good”, Ed had shared.

He is a proud girl dad through and through!
