Something is charming about SC4REAL’s music, and you can hear it in every second of his upcoming single, ‘Right Now’. The track is extremely intimate and showcases his grind perfectly, like a snapshot of where his head is at this very moment. With his single dropping on March 10, we recently got an opportunity to sit for an interview with the artist. So, let’s see what we talked about…
DMR: Congratulations on the new song coming out. You have been releasing singles consistently for months now. What pushed you to stay in that rhythm?
SC4REAL: I had collected a lot of music and it was just sitting so it was time to empty the vault and I wanted show that I was serious to start the new year.
DMR: At what point did ‘Right Now’ start to feel different from the other songs you dropped?
SC4REAL: I didn’t initially notice how aggressive and demanding the song was until a friend of mine explained it to me, so when I went back to listen to it I noticed how the hook was putting the song in that demanding and aggressive space but still being true to myself.
DMR: What was the first idea or emotion that sparked this upcoming single?
SC4REAL: The first emotion was to write a simple hook and from there the demanding and confident lyrics started to flow.
DMR: What does “Right Now” truly mean to you in this phase of your life?
SC4REAL: Right Now to me means few different things. I’m not next, I’m in the moment (Right Now) The phase of life that I’m in Right Now truly reminds me to stay aggressive, confident, and don’t wait for tomorrow.
DMR: How intentional was this release? Did you plan for it to mark a shift in your sound or your story?
SC4REAL: I picked this song to set up my next song and that song will set up the first album release of this year.
DMR: What were you looking for in the beat before you decided this was the one?
SC4REAL: The original beat was good but I felt I could make it better so I sat at my Akai Key61 and started constructing the new beat. I wanted a dance club type sound while still incorporating that classic hiphop sound.
DMR: What’s the secret behind the confidence in your voice on the record?
SC4REAL: I’m very competitive and music in general is very competitive, so I have to true to myself. I remember when I was recording the song my engineer stop the song and said “You’re not giving me SC4REAL, meaning I wasn’t giving the cool, confident, and aggressive energy. So, the formula for this record would be cool, confident, and aggressive.
DMR: How do you want listeners to feel after they hear your song for the first time?
SC4REAL: I want to people to feel motivated and inspired.
DMR: Is there any collaboration your fans will get to hear after this?
SC4REAL: I’m not sure at the moment about any collaborations, but I’m a producer first and open to collab but it has to make sense.
DMR: What can your fans expect from you after ‘Right Now’?
SC4REAL: After this song I plan to drop another single. I’m going to continue to work and promote my COOL REBEL brand.
