Lorde dropped her fourth studio album ‘Virgin’ on June 27 and it is currently creating a major buzz among the fans. The album consists of a sum of 11 tracks and the singer has shared a lot about it in a recent conversation with Apple Music’s Zane Lowe. Starting from reassessing her career to feeling like a teenager again, Lorde is unveiling a new chapter in her life and this latest album can be considered as an embodiment of her vision.
When they talked about the recent single ‘Hammer’, Lorde explained how things are kept raw and pure for the purpose. She added, “That first sound in “Hammer” feels like it’s coming from a very guttural place in a body. My sister said, “It sounds like it’s coming from your womb.”

Zane expressed it sounded like a “distorted human voice searching for breath” and Lorde agreed to that. The singer added, “Totally. Yeah, yeah, exactly. And I really thought of all the kind of… The palette of the album is actually quite simple. We use a lot of the same stuff over and over.”
Lorde also shared her experience with Jack Harlow when he was working in the studio for ‘Electric Lady’ and she ended up making him listen to her album. She said, “He’s such a sweetheart” and further added how Harlow appreciated her lyricism or in the rappers’ words ‘Bars’.
There is a song titled “Favorite Daughter” in the album which the singer has dedicated to her mother. She said to Apple Music, “that song is about my relationship with my mom, who is the reason that I do everything that I do, she is the blueprint for me.“
Lorde has also gone through a fair share of turmoil in her life the release of ‘Solar Power’ was not enough to change that. However, she fought back for her authentic self and made herself believe, “Make it real big, because you’re going to grow.”
