BLACKPINK’s Song ‘Kill This Love’ is the Fastest K-Pop Music Video by a Group to Surpass 1.2 Billion Views

South Korean band BLACKPINK’s music video for the song, ‘Kiss This Love’ has surpassed 1.2 billion views on YouTube. The news came at 12.38 a.m. KST on 9th February.

According to a report released by YG Entertainment, South Korean band BLACKPINK’s newly released music video for the song, ‘Kill The Love’ went past 1.2 billion views on the platform YouTube. This count was measured at around 12.38 am KST on February 9th.

The news marks a historic point in their careers and all of Korea’s music industry as the first K-pop group to have more than one of their music videos to have garnered 1.2 billion views. The other song that broke this record is known as ‘DDU-DU-DDU-DU’. Currently, the song has over 1.4 billion views on YouTube.

The song ‘Kill This Love’ has also earned the accolade of becoming the fastest K-pop music group to have passed the 1.2 billion cut. The song was released on April 5th back in 2019 at 12. a.m. KST. However, the song took about 1 year, 10 months, and 4 days to reach the current milestone. This record surpasses their previous record of the song ‘DDU-DU-DDU-DU’. It took the band over two years to accomplish this historic feat.

The announcement of the song was publically made by the band’s management agency, YG Entertainment. The song ‘Kill The Love’ is also the fastest K-pop video to have crossed the 1.2 billion views record which was achieved in under two years.

In October 2020, BLACKPINK became the first Korean all-girl band to sell over a million copies of their album. Their first full-length record, ‘The Album’ also reached the iTunes Top Albums charts in 57 countries right after its release.
