The recent Golden Globe was ruled by Diana Warren and the team Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Jon Batiste. They won the Golden Globes for best original score and best original song on Sunday, February 28th. After they won the award, their chance of winning the Oscars in the same categories increases. But it’s still not sure that it will happen. In the previous years, the ones who won the Golden Globe awards in these categories also won the Oscars. So their fans are anticipating that they will also win the Oscars like the seven of the ten Golden Globe winners in the past years.
The Golden Globe winners have a lot of confidence that history is going to repeat itself. Reznor, Atticus Ross, and Jon Batiste won the award for best original score for their performance in the Disney/Pixar movie Soul. Warren received the award for best original song for her creation ‘Io sì’. The song was co-written by the artist Laura Pausini and Niccolò Agliardi. This was the second Golden Globe win for the artists. They have received their first Golden Globe 10 years ago in 2011. Warren won the reward for ‘You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” from Burlesque. Reznor and Ross were awarded for The Social Network. The movie won the Oscars that year.
Warren and her songs did not get an Oscar nomination that year despite having 11 Oscar nominations. With this year’s nomination, she will most likely receive her 12th nomination. This year’s Oscar nominations will be announced on 15th March. ‘Io sì’ from the Italian drama The Life Ahead, is the first-ever non-English language song to win the Golden Globe awards. This win makes Warren the third female songwriter in the world, who has won two Golden Globes for best original song. Before her, Marilyn Bergman won the Globe for ‘The Windmills of Your Mind’ and ‘The Way We Were’ and Carole Bayer Sager won the award for ‘Best That You Can Do’ and ‘The Prayer’.
Before Reznor, Ross, and Batiste, only one time three composers won the Golden Globe together. 33 years ago David Byrne, Cong Su, and Ryuichi Sakamoto won the award for The Last Emperor. It also won the Oscars. Soul won Golden Globe for the best-animated feature film. It won in both animated feature film and score category this year.
