AR Rahman had recently called Taylor Swift an inspiration for all musicians around the world. He mentioned Swift as a “case study” for artists and even said he would compose anything Swift would like if she decided to collaborate with him. Ten years ago, Taylor Swift praised the music director in an exclusive interview with an Indian news agency. The ‘Bad Blood’ also had high praise in store for the Grammy-winning music composer. In a 2014 interview with Hindustan Times, Taylor Swift mentioned, “I have heard a lot about AR Rahman. I think he is a fantastic musician. His music touches the soul. I would love to hear him live in performance once.”
In the same interview, Swift also mentioned her desire to work in a Bollywood movie. “Indian cinema has a lot of music and dance, which excites me. I think Indians share a big passion for song and dance in the movies, which I love. It is a great way of connecting with the audience,” the ‘Shake It Off’ singer said back then. Now in an interview with FM Connect Canada, AR Rahman seemed to return the praise back to the best-selling female artist of the decade. He picked Taylor Swift over Ariana Grande as his choice of singer-songwriter. He also mentioned how he would absolutely love to compose any genre of music for Taylor Swift as long as she decides to work with him. While calling her a “case study” for musicians around the world, Rahman hailed her for the sheer impact Swift holds on the global music industry and singers.

“If people take the power of music to do good things, it is great. Michael Jackson had the power to do that. He did a lot of charity concerts and did philanthropy work in Africa. It is nice to see Taylor attaining that. She has gone through so much. She got cheated and made a comeback.
She is a good case study and inspiration for musicians,” Rahman said. Rahman is currently basking in the success of Amar Singh Chamkila, Imtiaz Ali’s musical biopic which was released on Netflix last week. The film gained critical acclaim for both the performances and the musical score. Rahman also composed for the Hindi film ‘Maidaan’ which was released in the theaters last Friday. On the other hand, Taylor Swift is currently touring around the world, performing on her ‘Eras World Tour’. She also has an upcoming album ‘The Tortured Poets Department’, releasing on April 19th, Friday.
